¶ Introduction
RevFlash is our flashing utility that is used to write our calibration into ECU
Windows 7+, an Internet connection and a J2534 compliant cable is required
¶ Compatible cables
RevFlash is compatible with most J2534 compliant cable. If you are already own one, it might be possible it is compatible
¶ Tested cables
- OpenPort 2.0 - Good performance
- Godiag GD101 - Good performance
- SnapOn Pass Thru Pro - Slower writing speed
- MINI-VCI J2534 - Extremely slow writing speed, it should be avoided
¶ Using RevFlash
¶ Driver installation
If the OpenPort driver is not installed in your computer, RevFlash will notice you it is missing and it will suggest the installation
The cable needs to be plugged into the laptop to complete the driver installation.
¶ ECU Identification
The purpose of the identification process is to deliver a file compatible with your ECU. The identification process also collects information about your vehicle which is used for tracking and better support
The tune is limited to one vehicle, although the cable is not limited to one VIN
¶ The server has reported no available tuned files
You will get this notice if the server is not able to deliver a compatible file that match your ECU, the purchased calibration and selected options
For the 2.5 market alone, they are over 80+ different ECUs to support, and our wide range of options leads to hundreds of file variations. It might be possible your ECU is running a less common firmware that will require manual processing on our end.
¶ Flashing your calibration
Simply select the calibration you would like to write and hit Flash! RevFlash will guide you through the flashing process
A battery charger is mandatory, the cooling fans might start blasting at full speed which could drain your battery!
¶ Special note: VW 2.5 2007-2008
For 2007-2008, the engine control unit (ECU) will require a patch. On your first flash, you will need to flash the patch prior to flashing the tune.
Once the patch has been applied, you will be free to flash between all calibration in a matter of 3–4 minutes
¶ Reading error codes
RevFlash give the ability to read and clear trouble codes. You can also select a code and click on Search. The search will query a list of relevant articles for troubleshooting, which is specific to VW
¶ Troubleshooting
¶ Communication error with ECU or cable
- Unplug the cable from both the OBD2 and USB port
- Cycle ignition off, ignition on
- Plug the cable on the laptop (USB port)
- Plug the cable on the OBD2 port
- Ensure the cable is properly inserted into the OBD2 port
- Restart the application and try again
If the issue persist, please contact support.
¶ RevFlash ask to install the driver everytime I start the application
Make sure the cable is plugged prior to installing the driver

¶ I am having issue after flashing the tune
Flash back to the stock calibration in the meantime and reach out to support.
¶ I don't have a battery charger, I attempted the flash and now my battery is dying
- Unplug the fuse for the cooling fans or disconnect the cooling fans
- Close all electrical consumers (HVAC, Lights, Radio)
